The Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters (DNVA), founded on 3 May 1857 as
’Videnskabs-Selskabet i Christiania’, assumed its present name on 1 January 1925. It
represents Norway as its national academy in the Union Académique Internationale
(UAI) and in the International Council for Sciences (ICSU).

organisation founded in 1955. The Academy is a member of the Council of Academies
of Engineering (CAETS) and of the European Council of Applied Sciences and
